A New Recipe

One one of the many lazy Saturdays I've had in January (before my JLC duties kicked in) David and I would lay around the house and watch tv. Now without cable we have limited options and our options are even more limited because of our finicky antenna.

We stumbled upon the Live Well Network on one of our local stations and tunes into Food for Thought with Claire Thomas. I'd seen her show once before. I'm not one to watch cooking.food shows, so watching this was out of my comfort zone.

She invited a guest chef to show the viewers how to cook gluten free foods. The dish they made was Gnudi. I'd never heard of it, but it looked delicious so I wanted to give it a try even if it was gluten free. The problem was neither David nor I could remember the name of the tv show or the dish name later that afternoon.

I spent about 30 minutes on the web searching with recipes that started with "G". That's all I could remember. After a few misses I finally came upon the name. About two weeks passed between when I remember the named and when we finally tried Gnudi. There are many Gnudi recipes out there, but I was determine to find Claire's. After checking out a few websites I came across someone's blog and they had a link to the recipe I was dying to try.

If you are looking to try this recipe, check out the Kitchy Kitchen blog. I will say the recipe is rich, so I advise serving it as an appetizer instead of an entire meal. The thing I like most about the recipe is the number of variations you can make for the sauce and garnishes.

Here's how my Gnudi turned out.

Top 5 Movies I Want to See in 2012

Four out of the last six movies I saw in theaters last year were based on books I'd read. This year three of my top five must see movies are based on books. In no particular order they are:

1. The Vow

2. Hunger Games

3. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II

I couldn't find an actual trailer for the movie.

4. The Great Gatsby

See above.

5. Is a tie between Les Miserable, The Amazing Spiderman (I <3 Emma Stone) and What to Expect When You're Expecting.

Top 10 To Do List for 2012

Two post in one week. Is the world coming to end?? I'm borrowing this idea for a Top 10 list from Lauren Conrad. Yes the LC from Laguna Beach and the Hills. I don't visit her website ever, but when my friend was in town last week she was looking at it and I became interested.

So here's my list. Some of these things are carried over from the 30x30 list which I failed miserably to complete.

1. Move to San Diego and become a CA girl!
2. Go Hunting.
3. Finally finish reading the Bible.
4. Take a trip with my hubby to Costa Rica, a cruise or Vancouver. Our last trip together before he starts working as a liar I mean lawyer.
5. Take surfing lessons.
6. Finally get my Esty store up and running before SOPA shuts it down.
7. Buy a new SUV preferrably a Ford Edge or Nissan Murano
8. Take a yoga class.
9. Love my husband more.
10 ????

What do you hope to accomplish this year?

Hello New Year

As one of my new year's resolution I committed to be a better blogger. January is now half over and I have failed been unsuccessful in my attempt. But, here I go.

This weekend we had visitors in town from DC. Matt and David met working together at the government some 7 years ago. Wow I can't believe it's been that long. His now wife and I became quick friends because of our similiar interests: shopping, reading and tv. She converted me into a Twihard was with me when I bought my first expense purse and introduced me to some beloved tv shows.

This was their second visit to Chicago. They also came to visit us last year at the same time. Last year we hit up the sites: Sears Tower (I refuse to call it Willis), John Hancock, the Bean, Magnificient Mile and local eateries. This year we kept is casual visitng Shed, more eateries and shopping. It was so nice to have a low key visit where we could just hang out. Especially since we haven't seen each other in a year. The visit reminded me how much I miss them.

We almost dressed up for the Golden Globes last night. Instead after a day of shopping we broke out the sweats and indulged on chips/dips/carrots, Garretts popcorn, pizza and humus. The food and company were great the awards show not so much.

Did you watch?

our friends left this morning and I made my way to work. It's a little depressing knowing that most people have the day off and I'm stuck here at my desk.
