Whatever Wednesday

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our neighborhood Chick-fil-a. The staff are friendly, it's clean and there are an endless amount of specials they offer. We can be found there two probably three times a week. C loves the playground and I love that she can be independent while playing. Last night we tried their new char-grilled chicken sandwich. I still prefer the original or spicy version, but the char-grilled one wasn't horrible.

I don't normally talk about religious or political things on here, but here goes. I know there is a lot of controversy over the recent announcement of World Vision's hiring policy. As a Christian part of me feels like I should have a problem with it, but the rest of me doesn't see it as a big deal. I realize that they are a faith based organization and it appears to go against what the company stands for, but we are called to love our neighbors as ourself.  The ones that are hurt by this announcement are the kids. While I understand why people may pull their sponsorships, I hope that they would prayerfully consider fulfilling their sponsorship commitment then canceling if they feel it's necessary.

I think that employers have the right to hire whoever they want. People have the right to apply for jobs at whatever company they want. If you don't like a company or brand you don't have to support it. I don't see how bashing/protesting a company solves anything. If we really took a look at the places we shop/support we might be surprised to find out what they support or don't support. If you are going to take issue with one company then shouldn't you evaluate every company you support so you don't appear to be a hypocrite? Yes, this is a very legalistic point and ridiculous. The point that I'm trying to make is that maybe we should have more grace for people who are different than us. No one is perfect. No decision is right for everyone and we are never going to agree with everyone. We can still live peacefully with others who differ from us and even learn a thing or two.

Satan is alive and powerful and causing strife within Christian communities/churches, families and work environments. When we see evil in the world we need to place the blame on the person responsible, Satan not God.

Whew, that was intense. Now onto lighter topics! One of our dear friends had their first baby this week! We are so excited for them and we can't wait to meet him. Hopefully a trip to NoCal later this year in the works. It's officially the start of baby season. :)

Whatever Thursday

How is it possible that my baby girl will turn 2 in four short months. I want to freeze time and keep her little forever. For the last month or so she has been talking more and using two or three word phrases. I'm constantly amazed by what comes out of her mouth. I would say that 60% of her babbling is unrecognizable, but it's still cute.

She has been watching her friend Ben learn to use the potty. So last week or so I went out and bought her one. I caught her last week sitting on our magazine bin next to the toilet pretending to go potty. This week she sat on her potty several times sometimes clothed sometimes without her diaper, but yesterday she said potty and walked into the bathroom. I helped her take off her clothes and diaper and she peed. Proud.Mom.Moment. Today when I asked if she wanted to go potty she said no. I guess it's a start. I've caught her recently trying to take off her diaper with her clothes on, so I think she's starting to understand the difference between wet and dry.

We have our first neighborhood church playdate this weekend at a local park. I'm really excited, except the weather is going to cooler than usual. I've only met about half of the families and I'm excited to get to know the rest.

It's the beginning of baby season. Several close friends are expecting and due soon. Several of them have waited to find out the sex, so we are anxiously awaiting the births. I hope they have girls so I can send them headbands.

Lastly, I'm hosting a Matilda Jane Trunk Show at the end of April. It's my first one and I'm really excited. I'm hoping to take online orders if any of my online friends out there want to purchase anything. More details to come.

Etsy Store

When I opened my Etsy Store for business last fall I had zero expectations. While I was hoping for lots of success I wasn't counting on any. I've sold a couple things through my shop, but I've sold even more outside my shop.

I know that success comes to those who work for it. That's why I've decided to do more advertising/promotion of my store. Feel free to follow my store on Instagram and Pinterest

I love making headbands and bows for giveaways. If you are in need of a giveaway let me know and I would be happy to donate.

Here are a few of the latest headbands I've been working on. I'm contemplating on putting them in my Etsy store. Color variations of these would also be available.

I'm loving radiant orchid and yellow for spring. Here's how I paired the two for Charlotte.

Whatever Thursday

Another week has come and is almost gone. We are almost half way through March and spring is officially one week away. We didn't have winter here in SoCal, but I'm still wishing for warmer temperatures. I know, I know I have nothing to complain about, except allergies/colds which have hit our household hard.

I finished Revenge Wears Prada this weekend. I though it was a good easy read. I didn't finish loving one of the main characters, even if she made one good decision and stayed true to her convictions. Something about her made me almost hate her. The story was predictable, but for a sequel it worked well.

Frozen comes out on DVD next week and I'm super excited. I've been listening to the soundtrack on Pandora and I'm ready to sing-a-long with the movie. If you haven't seen this video before you should check it out. I would totally do this too, but I wouldn't look as adorable.

David and I have a date night planned for this Saturday. While I had planned to see the new Veronica Mars movie, sadly it's not playing near us (It's playing in a few select theaters near us, just not near our babysitter). I was informed that it will be available on demand for a hefty price ($19.99). It's less than two tickets in the theatre and I'm in the comfort of my own home. Doesn't sound too bad.

Whatever Wednesday

Am I the only one who hasn't seen the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon? I sound like a broken record, because I've mentioned before that we don't have NBC. I do want to catch one of his shows, but with all my other shows returning it's not a priority. I've caught a few clips from the shows, but I haven't watched one in its entirety.  Am I missing anything?

In February I tried to complete a month long plank challenge. Let's just say that I failed miserably. I think I made it through 16 days, but I'm committed to continue till I finish. I'm currently holding a plank for 2 minutes. It's trouture. Since I'm already in pain, I've added a squat challenge too. At this point it's easier, but still painful. Yes, my derriere hurt after the first day.

I've decided to join the Girls on the Run 5K committee. I miss participating in grown up things as well as leading events. C went with me to our first meeting tonight and let me say that my fellow committee members were very accepting of C's antics. I should have known she pooped and that's why she wouldn't settle down and was running and slapping the walls. At least we were almost finished with the meeting at that point. If any of my fellow SD peeps are interested in running as a Running Buddy registration opens tomorrow.

If you are in need of some green bows/headbands for St. Patrick's Day check out my Etsy store. Enter the code LUCKY for 10% off all month long.

Baby Dedication

We finally had Charlotte dedicated at church this morning. She was 3x as old as the other babies who were on stage with her, but better late than never. When she was a baby we were still church hopping, but we have since found a church that we enjoy and are getting more involved, so I felt it was time. We didn't get a family picture. FAIL. That seems to be a theme with us. I found her dress last fall on clearance at Target and she finally was able to wear it today. I know we don't have the snow or ice that most of my family and friends are experiencing back home, but it was a cold rainy day here in SD. Actually it's been raining since Thursday. We all matched today, shocker. David almost changed his shirt when he realized that we were matchy-matchy, but I convinced him to leave it on.
Afterwards we grabbed lunch and hit up Sonic for dessert. Yes, Sonic finally opened in SD this week. And I've been there 3x already. Embarrassed, NOPE. I go for the delicious drinks.
