People don't generally get the best impression of me when I tell them I like to eat food from gas stations. I love 7-11 nachos and QuickTrip has the best sandwiches. There's something about the drinks too. They are just better and cheaper at gas stations.
Today I went over to my neighborhood gas station to grab a soda. When I arrived a tent was set up with a van selling energy drinks. I walked by thinking it was interesting they were set up on a weekday to do a promotion. As I was walking by I saw a giant check made out to Bright Beginnings. I volunteer for an organization called Bright Beginnings and wondered if it was the same place. I walked inside grabbed my drink, went to pay and was told I could grab a hot dog and bag of chips for the price of my soda $1. I was estatic. My lunch only cost me $1 and the proceeds could be going to my organization. As I was leaving I decide to stop and ask if the money was benefiting my Bright Beginnings. The answer was YES! The original recipient had to back out and someone suggested Bright Beginnings become the benefactor. I proceed to tell the gentleman that I volunteer with the organization. They were in fact very appreciative since they knew little about the organization. I asked them if they could promote our upcoming 5K Race in May. They told me they would be glad too. All that's left to do is for me to take them some flyers on the race and the center.
I'm glad I decided not to make today the day to quit drinking soda. God definitely works in mysterious ways.
