21 Weeks

I started this post at week 17 but I never got around to posting a picture. I swear all my attempts to get a "cute" pregnant picture have failed. I just look better straight on than from the side.

Anyway, maybe someday I'll get around to posting the pictures I've been taking since I found out we were pregnant. I modified a maternity photo idea I found on Pinterest. Here's a link to the posters blog that I have been reading for weeks now.

How far along? 21 Weeks
Total weight gain: 8 lbs. I think constipation from my hospital stay accounted for at least 2 of those pounds.
Maternity clothes? I've bought a couple tanks, dresses, one pair of jeans dress pants and shorts. I don't need them yet but summer will be here before I know it.
Stretch marks? I don't think so. I'm been using an oil since week 8.
Sleep: Depends on the night. I still sleep through the night most days.
Best moment this week: Finding out we are having a girl!!!
Miss Anything? Going to the bathroom.
Movement: Yes, she seems to be active most when I eat.
Food cravings: Nachos
Anything making you queasy or sick: certain smells
Gender: Team Pink
Labor Signs: I sure hope not.
Symptoms: Gag reflex from all the medicines I was on.
Belly Button in or out? still in, barely.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Even keel, but more emotional

The not so great weekend

On Thursday afternoon, while I was still at work, I started to feel pain in my middle/lower back on my right side. I figured it was some minor muscle pain that would go away and attributed it to recent travels and lack of sleep. Well by 6:00 that night the pain had increased so I took some tylenol, put a heat patch on my side and took a nap. I woke up to more pain several hours later and decide to call my doctor to see if they had any recommendations. I had a kidney infection 10 years ago and the pain felt relatively similiar which led me to believe that this is could be what I was experiencing. The on-call doctor questioned me for awhile about my symptoms, I think she thought I was exaggerating my pain. I was really worried about the baby, but the doctors said that this shouldn't effect the baby. That's the real reason I wanted to make sure everything was ok.

I decide to go to the ER and see if they could figure anything out. About 2 hours after being admitted I finally got results and pain medicine. By know I had thrown up multiple times due to the pain and the pain had increased to a 10. The doctor diagnosed my with kidney stones and admitted me for the night. I didn't get any relief until the middle of the night and it wasn't much.

Every time I needed pain medicine the nurses had to call the doctor to get permission to admintister the medicine. In the morning I went 5 hours without any pain medicine and it was 5 of the worst hours of my life. I went in for a sonogram of kidneys and they poked and prodded my sides for almost an hour and a half. It was torturous. Not to mention I was feeling nauseous the whole time.

When they finally took me back to my room and gave me pain medicine I felt like a new person. The urologist came in to see me a few hours later and told me they still felt like I had a kidney stones but weren't able to see any. My right urethrea was enlarged and my kindey wasn't draining properly, so they planned to keep my overnight. Saturday morning I saw my OBGYN (who just happened to be on call) and he told me he thought I could go home later that night. I slept most of the day on Saturday a waiting word on my discharge. As it would happen my white blood cell count went up and they didn't want to send me home. So I spent another night in the hospital watching the Elite 8 games. Sunday morning brought more confusion. I was told I could go home, then that I would need a stint put in, etc. Finally the OBGYN gave me the go ahead to leave, but I started having increased pain in my back.

What frustrated me the most was when they gave the discharge order, I had a hard time getting a nurse to help me when I was really in pain. They basically wrote me off before I left. I hope that isn't an omen for what it will be like when I deliver there.

Back in the Running Habit

I haven't run since last November when I completed the San Antonio 1/2 marathon. Shortly after that I found out I was pregnant and decided that I needed to take a break from exercising. I was tired, then came the holidays, then the cold, etc I was never short of excuses for not running.

Finally David and I decided that we would start working out after our babymoon. That would mean that today was the day we started exercising again. I already had my excuses planned out for why I couldn't run today. I have a JL meeting after work then our apartment building is hosting BINGO night, so I wouldn't have time to fit in running.

BUT as luck would have it I was wide awake at 4:00 am this morning. Apparently no one told my body we weren't in Spain anymore. As I laid awake for an hour praying exhaustion would overtake my body and force me back to sleep, the hubs rolled over just as wide awake and suggested jokingly I'm sure that we should go running. I said ok, but only if we weren't asleep in 20 minutes. As you might guess neither one of us was able to go back to sleep so at 6:00 we got up and went for a jog. The beautiful weather also made a great case for running outside. It was nowhere near the pace or distance I'm accustom to, but it did feel good to get back in the habit.
We'll see how sore I am tomorrow.

It's about time

Most of you know this already, but I'll go ahead and make the "BIG" annoucement on here anyways...We are expecting a beautiful bundle of joy this August. We are super excited!! I broke down and told my bosses last week. I'm not going to be able to hide it much longer. I'm undecided if I'll post anything to facebook or just updates on here. More weekly pictures to come.

Pinterest

It seems like everyone and their mother is on Pinterest now. If you haven't joined head over their now and sign up, go on DO IT!

I have to say I'm pinhard. I rarely pin new things on Pinterest, because they are so many things just waiting to be re-pinned from the site. Also, for some reason, I've had trouble adding the Pin button to my mac and iPAD. Any other Mac users out there that have figured this out?

The purpose of this post was to inform all my faithful readers of something I recently pinned. I'm a "collector" of race memorabila. I run races for the t-shirts and medals, yes I'm that girl. I have saved all my t-shirts, bib numbers and medals from the races I've participated in. Ok, in all honesty there may be a handful of 5K bibs that have been tossed along the way. Anyway I came across this article yestarday on ideas on what to do with your old race stuff. If you're interested in the suggestions they had read the article here.

I'd thought of some tips before, but the one I was intrigued by the most was turning your bib numbers into coasters. I found someone's Etsy site who will turn those old bibs into coasters and thought to myself, now I think I could do that. I also think it would be cool to turn them into trivets or re-purpose serving trays with them. I know it may seem tacky, but for someone who is as sentimental as I am, this is the perfect solution to declutter some of my stuff.

Eventully when we move and decorate for Christmas again, I plan on turning my medals into Christmas tree ornaments.

What do you do with your race memorabila?
