What I Wore Wednesday

I'm a day late, but here is my What I Wore Wednesday post. Seriously, someone needs to give me pointers on taking selfie outfit photos. I have a full length mirror, but it doesn't take the greatest pictures. I'm linking up with Pleated Poppy for this week's post.

5 on Friday

This is my first time linking up with darci, april, christina and natasha for the 5 on Friday posts. Normally by this time in the week I have exhausted my post ideas, but I thought I would post again today because why not.

1| Jamberry Nails

I mentioned this yesterday in my post, but when I first heard about Jamberry I was skeptical about the whole nail art thing. However, a friend recently hosted an online party and I explored the site and was amazed at all the different styles they offered. Seeing the nails in person, made me realize how cute they are. Here are some of my favorites. If you are interested in joining my party leave me a comment or send me a Facebook message.

Mini and Me Set

2| La Jolla Beach

Even though I live in San Diego, I rarely go to the beach. I love the beach, but with a toddler it can be more effort than it's worth. Tomorrow we are heading to La Jolla Shores for a family day with our church group. It will be the second time this year we have been to the beach.

3| Push Pin Balls

I recently came across this craft from a friend's blog. I think they are the perfect edition to any room or in my case the mantle. Maybe after I finish the 50 other projects I have half done, I can start on these.

4| Freshly Picked

I have been an admirer of these adorable moccasins for awhile now. They are cute, available in a variety of colors and perfect for little feet.

5| Poshmark

Poshmark is an app for buying and selling clothes. I've been on it for almost a year now and sold two things. I like it better than Craigslist for selling stuff. Selling to a resale shop is still my preferred method, but I like Poshmark because you can search by brand or keyword. My closet name is SaucyRoxann.

Whatever Thursday

It's no secret that I LOVE Chick-fil-a. You can find us there at least every other week and sometimes every week. The Carmel Mountain CFA is my favorite CFA. Not only do they have great specials but they genuinly care for their customers and the community. Today we met up with friends and headed over for their monthly Kids Club. The kids made visors, ate nuggets, enjoyed ice cream and played their hearts out. They recently launched a new Valet service for parents. If your kids go crazy waiting in line, then this is for you. You place your order through the drive-thur they give you a number, you park and come inside and your food is waiting for you. Genius I tell you. That is phenomenal customer service.

My obsession love of Matilda Jane grows each day. I wish I had discovered it sooner as I have found several pieces that I love that are no longer available. I can't find them on eBay either, although at the prices people are asking for some pieces I don't think I would be buying them on there. I had a great time hosting a show a few months ago and I'm looking forward to hosting one this fall when the newest collection is released. I went to a sample sale last week and picked up a few pieces for our family photos this fall. I'm in love with C's outfit. Now to find outfits for David and I.

I'm hosting my first Jamberry Online Party. Jamberry nails is a new trend in nail color. A friend of mine hosted one a few weeks ago and I loved her nails. I think the best party is how you can mix and match the patterns. They are great for holidays, special occasions and everyday use. I am so excited to try them out. If you are interested in joining leave me a comment and I'll invite you via FB.

Vacation to MO part 2

During the second half of our trip home we visited David's family in KC. We always have a great time with them and this visit was special since it will be our last to trip to the house David grew up in.  Charlotte loved playing with Miklos, but I don't think the love was returned. I was able to run several errands and take much needed naps. Charlotte didn't sleep while we were gone, so naps were a necessity.

We found out before our trip the Cardinals would be in town to face the Royals. As fans of both teams we thought it would be fun to see them play. I have never been to game where they were playing each other so I really wanted to go. Tickets were expensive even for the bad seats and the prices didn't go down closer to game time. We took a chance and went to the stadium to find tickets. We were lucky to find seats on the 1st base line in foul territory. The game went into extra innings and for once we stayed for the entire game. Bonus: the CARDS WON!! It was the only win of the KC series, but I'll take it.
A house divided

The next day we visited great-grandpa. David is fortunate that two of his grandparents are still living.

Afterwards we headed to our friends the Chapins for dinner and fellowship. Here is the smallest Chapin, Darcie who just turned 1 a few weeks ago.

KC boasts about their BBQ, so of course we had to have some. Jack Stack served up some tasty food and we all walked away satisfied. Next stop free doughnuts from DD.

That night we headed over to the Sebolts to hang out. The girls had a great time playing together and we had fun catching up with their parents.

Saturday before we headed out, we stopped by for brunch at great-grandmas. We made this delicious biscuits and gravy recipe. It's one of my favorite Pinterest recipes I've tried. I highly recommend it.

The ride back was pretty uneventful. Charlotte did ok on the first leg and slept on the second one. At this point we were all ready to be home. Before leaving the airport I had to stop and pick up Qdoba for dinner just because it would be the last time I would have access to it for awhile. A big shout out to our friends the Brumbacks for picking us up at the airport.

What I Wore Wednesday

We recently returned from our trip to MO where we visited family friends and celebrated a 1st birthday. Only packing 1 suitcase for 2 people did mean I had to think through my outfits and realize that it was advantageous of me to pack things that could be mixed and matched. Here's what I came up with. Two of the outfits were not worn on our trip.

Dr. Seuss 1st Birthday Party

Last weekend while we were visiting home, my nephew celebrated his 1st birthday. My sister did a great job planning and decorating for a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party. We had so much fun partying with the birthday boy even though he wasn't feeling 100%. Happy Birthday Henry! We love you.

Vacation to MO part 1

While on vacation I tend to ignore my blogging duties and embrace being on vacation. This also spills over into e-mail and social media. I kinda of disconnect from these things. Not a bad thing, but I should be better at keeping up as well.

We started our trip over a week ago with our flight into STL. Charlotte did great on the flight. She watched a movie and slept, so momma got to sleep too. I had packed new toys but we didn't need them. However, the magna doodle I picked up was handy at the airport when I couldn't connect to WiFi. My parents picked me up and we headed to Lyon's Choice, not Qdoba surprise surprise. I had forgotten how much I liked LC. Then it was home to play with the dogs. C couldn't get enough of the dogs and the feeling was mutual.

The next day my brother and niece came over for a playdate and lunch at Qdoba.  I didn't get a picture of the girls, but they have a great time playing. My mom and I then headed off to one of STL newest outlet malls. We had fun shopping and hanging out with Mimi. When we were finished there, we headed over to my other niece's band concert.

The next day we headed to CoMo. My nephew wasn't feeling well so we went early and I missed seeing one of my besties, Carrie, but she was understanding.

That night we headed to Shakespeares Pizza. I love me some pizza especially from Shakespeares. Quick side story about our experience - I had told the girls they could each take an egg shaped shaker (from a drum set) with us. When we arrived the girls waited to receive their ball of dough and C promptly shoved her egg into an opening in the wall. While trying to retrieve it I pushed it farther back into the tube. We thought the tube emptied into the adjacent room, but we found out it wrapped around the entire place with no real purpose. I felt horrible. I know it was only a toy, but it wasn't our toy. The problem with getting the egg out was that the tube curved right away so sticking a knife in wouldn't work. But I tried it anyway. Finally I was able to "force" it out with a straw. Craziest thing. My recommendation to Shakespeares cover that hole. I'm sure we weren't the first person to shove something in there. Also, for all my CoMo peeps who no longer live there, they have branded water cups now. I know this sounds silly, but we use our Shakespeares' cups ALL.THE.TIME. so I added several more to our collection. Lastly, they girls played in the game room while the adults tried to eat and they managed to shake a machine enough and get bouncy balls. They had no idea, and we didn't either, that all their hard work would result in a prize.

The next day we headed to Sams to pick up the remaining items for Saturday's big party. These two weren't thrilled about going but did very well considering we went to 3-4 stores.

Playing outside after dinner.

Saturday was the big party, which you can read about HERE.  C loved the pool at the party.

We took it easy on Sunday and laid around the house. C and I did the same thing on Monday while everyone else either went to work or went home. Henry finally getting to enjoy his birthday gifts. The girls took over most of his toys.

The girls had so much fun together. They loved watching the dogs run around, watching movies and brushing their teeth.

One our last night in CoMo, we grilled out and finally captured a good picture of the girls together. Harper is learning the art of taking a selfie and a 1000 other things.

Tuesday morning C and I headed out to visit a friends who I haven't seen since college. It was so good to catch up with her. We ran a few errands and visited my aunt, who also lives in CoMo before heading to KC with my sis. Until we see you again, thanks for the hospitality STL and CoMo.
