David's going to law school in the fall. Over the past month, we have been pouring over the decision of which school and in what city to attend. It's not/was an easy decision to make. We finally narrowed our choices to Wash U/St. Louis and UVA/Charlottesville, VA. Both places had advantages, but we weren't set on either one. We had planned to make a decision by this weekend.
Enter Tuesday and a call from Northwestern's admissions office. David was offered a spot in their accelerated law program with a HUGE scholarship. The only catch is the program starts in mid May. Talk about a tough decision, but an answer to prayer. David and I both wanted to get through the next three years with as little debt as possible and a job for myself. The upside to this is my company is headquartered in Chicago. Right now, they don't have any jobs available, but they might be willing to work with me. All I have to do now is figure out when to tell them.
Our lease isn't up until the end of July as we were planning to move before classes begin in August. Right now, David is moving in 15 days and starts classes in 18 days. I'll be left to clean and pack up the place. Fun times. I'm really glad this is happening during the summer. At least I'll have the pool and running to keep my occupied. And I've started compiling my list of things to do before I leave DC.
1. Go see Lady Antebellum at Jiffy Lube Live (formerly Nissan Pavilion)
2. Train for Chicago half marathon or marathon (I'll have to buy a bib off someone for the full marathon)
3. Visit NYC and travel to the Lady Liberty's crown.
4. Visit Luray Caverns
5. Visit all Smithsonians
6. attend the Memorial Day service at Arlington Cemetery
7. Volunteer at the Kidney Foundation's Chili Cook-Off
That's my big news for the year. I'm really excited for the next adventure that awaits us.
