The past 7 days have brought extensive heart break to many in the US. Last Monday, 9 people lost their live in a horrendous metro cash in DC. Wednesday brought the death of Ed McMahon, Thursday the death of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Today we hear about Billy Mays.
For my own family, I lost an uncle on Tuesday. This morning I was woken to good and bad news. My niece was born this morning around 3:30, but immediately the doctors knew something was wrong. She wasn't crying and her skin was purple. She was diagnosed with a heart problem and rushed to Children's hospital. Her veins and arteries feeding into her heart are switched. She'll be undergoing open heart surgery this week. It so heart breaking. She's being feed through tubes and is hooked up to several machines. The only person that's been able to hold her is my brother and he's taking this very hard. My sister in law is still at a different hospital and hasn't been able to see her daughter yet. I'm debating whether or not to go home.

Peeling
When most people think of peeling it probably revolves around cooking. When I think about peeling I envision a sunburn. That's right I love peeling after a burn. I even like peeling other people after they have been burned. It's gross I know, but I love it.
I really love the water blisters that accompany some burns. That's why God made us all different. There really isn't enough skin peeling to go around and I'll happily peel anyone that needs it.
Last week David and I went to the beach. For once he was the toasted one and I wasn't. All week he has been peeling. It wasn't much at first but as the week wore on, the skin came off. This morning I wake up and see a huge patch of skin just waiting to be peeled. It was glorious! So much skin and sheets of it. It really made my morning.

Top Sail Island
I'm leaving for the beach in less than 18 hours. Can you tell I'm excited?!? I love the beach, and since I live on the East Coast I actually live near beaches (4 hours away). My first trip to the beach was when I was 14 and I went on vacation with a friend's family. Oddly enough we went to NC's OBX and this vacation will be to Top Sail Island (southern OBX). We are renting a beach house with some friends from church.
Normally when I force David to take me to the beach each summer we only go for a day and mostly by ourselves. It's a real commitment to travel to the beach. I even talked David into buying me a beach chair and umbrella. My favorite beaches in the Delmarva area are Ocean City, MD - the best waves ever,
Virginia Beach - thanks to Kelly, and last would be the Delaware beaches - the waves were too rough.
I love feeling the sun on your skin, the cool water that caress your skin, and the way the sand feels between your toes.
